Delayed Insanyaty

(Ugh…that’s the best I can do with that title?)

My personal dance floor!

Before we start, please forgive me for my long and rather unexplained break. I was…well…if I’m honest, lazy. The times I’d pop onto SL with the best intentions I wound up having just too much fun. Today, however, I resolved that I would have fun and get my blogging on!

Oh! A spot of news! Belleza updated their mesh body to include Bento hands, and there was much rejoicing! With that in mind, I’ve switched over to my Belleza Freya body on a semi-permanent basis. I’ll miss my Maitreya exclusives, but I just like the way I look in Freya more. Enough chit-chat, let’s talk fashion!

Gotta dance! Thanks to Superharry for the AWESOME tunes!

This afternoon the AMAZING Superharry Kingmaker was spinning 70s and 80s disco and dance tunes at one of my favorite clubs on the grid, Cling. I think I’ve talked about Cling in the past, but it’s my second home-away-from-home. I love it here, and if you’re ever in the mood for a little nylon or latex and some fantastic tunes with some amazing company, you should come by!

I’m wearing Soraia from Insanya which is at this month’s The Season’s Story event. I love Insanya. LOVE them. They just exemplify tastefully trampy with a high quality, fun, and rather reasonably priced array of pieces from this sexy dress to skirts that bare the entirety of one’s bottom (I have that one too).

The pantyhose are from Bebe, and thankfully they use an Omega applier so I’ll still be able to wear them! LOVE how my curvier (my niece told me the word is thicc, spelled just like that, but I just can’t quite bring myself to say it) thighs, backside, and calves look with nylons, leggings, tight jeans, etc.

My Happy Ass Monday candidate – Hi Flickr peeps!

Even Whores Need Couture

Okay…no jokes about “streetwalking”…

The Whore Couture Fair is here! Running through the end of the month, my favorite annual event in SL (and my most budget-destroying) will be open for the vending of all things running the spectrum between the pleasantly sexy to the tastefully trampy to the outright slutty…and I love it all.

I think my favorite thing about the WCF is how unabashed it is. This is a fair that recognizes that people like sex. People like looking sexy even to the point of looking downright, well, whore-y (not a word, but I think it works in this context). And there is absolutely zero wrong with it. If it’s not your bag, that’s totally cool, there are zillions of other shopping events for you, but this one is my favorite.

No…this isn’t just a zoomed in version of that last picture…for reals!

I tried to go almost all WCF today; I’m wearing the April harness and April lace vest from United Colors with the Jenna shorts from Insanya (LOVE Insanya – have I said that before?). The hair is Miya from Limerence, also available at the Fair.

Before signing off, I wanted to give a little advice to those visiting the WCF this month:

  1. It’s crowded AF. Be ready for TP fails. I had to hammer my way in using the Seraphim HUD.
  2. They’ve instituted some pretty stringent limits on scripts to try and reduce lag. I wound up removing nearly everything but some unscripted hair and applier undies. Jewelry, mesh clothing, any mesh bits, shoes, AO…get rid of as much as you can or they’ll bounce you right out.
  3. Demo away from the fair. I grabbed armloads of demos and popped home (where I could get my AO and such back on) before demo’ing. It’s really the only way to know if that blistering hot lingerie is going to fit right when you have the sultry turned up to 11 and your special someone sits slack-jawed in a lust-crazed awe and…you get where I’m going with this.

I’ve visited the WCF twice and you can bet I’ll be back – shout at me if you see me! 🙂

Gratuitous Booty Shot – GO!

#SecondLifeChallenge – Love and Dating in Second Life

100 strokes…not THAT kind!!!

First off, I hope you’ll forgive me for my little break! I feel like I’m blaming more and more on this over the past few weeks, but I injured my right arm and working it too hard gets awfully painful after too long. It’s on the mend, but it still hurts. Hopefully, I’ll be back on my 1-2 posts a week schedule before long – thanks for sticking with me!

We’re back with this week’s #SecondLifeChallenge from Strawberry Singh, and it’s on an exciting, heartbreaking, breathtaking, uplifting, blissfully happy topic that also weighs in as soul-crushing and the number one seller of ice cream pints in the world – Love and Dating.

Let’s go to the questions!

Do you date in Second Life?

Absolutely – I love it! I love going out with someone interesting, whether it be sharing an SL interest like sailing or surfing or visiting art galleries, going dancing, checking out a musical performance, or even just exploring a pretty sim. There’s such a wonderful, exciting energy to dating; it’s full of potential and electricity and it’s never boring.

Share some locations in Second Life that you think are ideal to go to on a date.

I’ll share two. The first is Frank’s. Nota bene: Frank’s is a private club and the cost to join isn’t cheap. When I first joined it was 500L, it’s now up at 1,000L. Is that a lot? Absolutely. Is it worth it? If you ask me, yes. The sim is beautiful, the music and DJ’s are top notch, it’s the perfect spot for two people looking to spend some time together to get dressed to the nines and go dance, sit and talk, people-watch, or just walk about this really lovely sim.

(That’s KirkWilliams in the background and, yes, he is just that dreamy…)

Two is Virtual Ephemera. Ephemera is free, but that doesn’t make it any less special. There is SO much to do at Ephemera, and exploring it with a date is exciting and fun. There are plenty of places to stop and sit for a talk (or…something) and there are often DJs at the multiple party spots at the sim.

Exploring alone – not quite as fun, but Ephemera is still gorgeous.

Share a story of one of your favorite dates/proposals you’ve experienced in Second Life, or something someone has done for you that meant a lot.

The woman I’d been seeing had found out I liked riding motorcycles and suggested a specific route for an outing. We put on some riding gear and went for a ride across a sim I’d never visited. It was lovely: grassy meadows and trees surrounding a narrow road. After 15 minutes or so she suggested pulling over to take a break. We went offroad to this small hill overlooking a small lake where she’d left a picnic blanket, basket, and a plushy unicorn. Even though she and I have parted ways, I still have the unicorn.

Have you ever fallen in love in Second Life?

I have. It’s very different because on an intellectual level I knew full well this ‘ended’ when I logged out of Second Life, but it didn’t stop it from creeping into my mind even when I was nowhere near the grid. Musing over something we’d done together or something we’d planned for the future. I knew this wasn’t an RL relationship of any kind – I didn’t want it to be. It didn’t stop it from being immensely powerful and terribly painful when I realized it was over.

Have you ever gotten partnered or married in Second Life?

Once. I still adore my partner, and we spend a lot of time together, but ultimately a formal partnership wasn’t a great choice for either one of us. I think I’ll keep the details to myself, but just say my partner and I are much better as very close friends than as partners.

I’ve gotta run – I have a date! I’m being taken to an art exhibit. Wish me luck!

Which way back to my place? I’ve gotta get ready for my date!

Having a Chenogasm! (My Cheongsam Evening)

Chenogasm!!! *laughs*

That title is a little joke. When I was first exposed to this absolutely beautiful style of dress, I could have sworn the name was Chenogasm…as in rhyming with orgasm. It reduced me to giggles every time I saw it in text, wondering why it would have such an unusual name.

Particle water spraying makes for a cool background!

I have since, of course, learned the truth about the Cheongsam dress, and just how absolutely beautiful they are. They’re sexy and gorgeous, elegant and playful, suggestive and classy, exotic and wonderful, and you should have one in your closet.

My favorite is this one here from Kaithleen’s. The fatpack might set you back a sizable piece of your clothing budget, but it comes with a bountiful array of textures, including the more traditional florals as well as solid colors. I never regret having made the plunge with it. I have some cheongsam-style dresses from other designers, and they’re nice, sure, but this is the one I come back to every, every time. Not only is it perfect for a night out on the town, when trying to impress a date (I can speak from experience that it totally works for that), and it looks pretty fantastic strolling around the streets of London on a foggy night.

(Not that kind of strolling!)

Suns coming up…sort of.

I’m wearing it with pantyhose from Nena, which include a…errr…slightly more adventurous ‘pulled down’ version which I’ve not shown here, but certainly could have it’s time and place. The shoes are from KC Couture, which has more cute tootsie wear from floor to ceiling than one can shake a stick at (not to mention some cute jewelry and piercings too).

Okay, friends, shopping time!

Adios, Luxe Box

Shopping and cute clothes and fun items in Second Life really do make it for me. It’s the ultimate Barbie, complete with dream house, glam convertible, even Malibu Ken/Kim. Luxe Box made that into this fun surprise social event; I’d get together with friends in the same room or in the Luxe Box group, squeal excitedly when our boxes arrived, and then gush and share pictures about the new outfits we’d put together. Luxe Box was great – it was like Christmas and Margarita night where I walked away each month with tons of cute clothes, shoes, hair, accessories, furniture, and even little pets.

Everyone needs a Cape Wagon with strand lights!

Luxe Box officially announced this past week they were closing up shop after an almost two-year run. I felt like what better way to say goodbye to something that has been such a fun and fulfilling part of my Second Life than by taking a few pictures.

Did I mention I went brunette recently?

I’m wearing some jeans from Blueberry that were in the September 2016 box. I remember being SO excited that Blueberry was participating that month AND when it turned out to be this fantastic pair I was overjoyed. These were my go-to jeans for a long, long time, and I still wear them quite frequently. One of these days I’ll get some pictures shot that really show them off, beacuse they make my legs and my backside look fantastic. I’ve paired them with a cami from Foxes from the February 2016 box. This cami looks just cute AF with jeans, but I’ve worn it a lot with skirts and, occasionally, with just a pair of undies for some playful boudoir-ish pictures.

The shoes, however, are far and away the most worn item I’ve ever received from a Luxe Box. These wedges from Reign are super cute and I wear them at least twice a week, and since they come in literally dozens of textures they never get boring. For the first few pictures, I’m sitting in a cape wagon from Tarte – I believe this was in the November 2017 Luxe Box, but I’m not 100% certain on that. What I am certain about is it’s a wonderfully romantic spot to curl up with someone special…and if you’ve got more on your mind than curling up, well, Tarte has you covered there too.

Sitting sadly at the Luxe Box Boutique

It may sound a bit silly, but I’m going to miss Luxe Box so much. This wasn’t just an exciting monthly surprise of lots of cute clothes and such (although that was a big part of it), it was this neat community bound together by sharing our experiences with our common interest. That’s what I’ll miss the most. Adios, Luxe Box. Thanks for two wonderful years, countless outfits, hairs, and housing items, and a little Corgi named Simon.

So let’s not end on a down note – let’s end on one with a little promise for everyone who maybe didn’t participate in Luxe Box. While Luxe Box was going on, designers had to agree they would not sell anything they contributed to Luxe Box. Now that Luxe Box has turned out the lights, ALL of those cute clothes and hairs are fair game to be sold. I think we’re going to see an influx of some really great stuff available for the first time to folks who maybe never tried out Luxe Box, and that’s exciting! I’m happy for folks who maybe never got a chance to wear the best wedges on the grid or some truly magnificent jeans. That is a silver lining I can get behind.

#SecondLifeChallenge – Relaxation

The voice of the sea may speak to the soul, but lounging on deck is pretty good too.

My blogging muse, Strawberry Singh, posted a new #SecondLifeChallenge this week, and it goes a little something like this:

Here are the instructions for the #SecondLifeChallenge this week: Share what you do in Second Life (or in real life) to relax and reduce stress.

Bodies in the…sand? Tropical drink…freezing in your hand…

Mine involves my sailboat and throwing navigation out the window. I pick a direction and set sail. I never fail to find something interesting, be it someone’s home or boat or plane or island. I might just drop anchor a ways off, set the windlight to something pretty and lay down on the deck, trying to forget for a while about whatever has me chewing on my pencils.

I’m wearing a double from erratic! This is my favorite bikini and it comes in SOOOOO many cute textures. For my Maitreya body, it’s probably my go-to ‘kini. The denim shorts…I have oodles and oodles of denim shorts, no lie, but these are my “sailing shorts.” I think it’s the bandana tied about the belt loop; it adds a flavor that makes me feel like it should be worn doing something outdoorsy…like sailing!

Love this ‘kini from erratic!

I think most everyone has heard a little something about Luxe Box closing its doors, and I’ll talk about it in more detail in my next post. Until then, I’m just gonna chill and take in this…tropical island/winter wonderland.

Late Nights and Sleepy Mornings

Some Friday nights, even after being up way too late enjoying SL after a margarita or two, I just can’t find sleep. Those nights I often wind up skimming the MP, reading other blogs, poring over Flickr, or just bouncing from page to page hoping sleep is right around the corner.

Tonight I’m wearing some new socks by erratic which are on sale, but just this weekend! At 99L each they’re a steal by themselves, but half of that will be returned in the form of erratic store credit (and, to be honest, I can ALWAYS use erratic store credit). Many of the new socks have kind of a wintry, holiday theme and are not to be missed. The hair is called Faryn from TRUTH, and you can find it at Uber until December 23rd (and probably at the TRUTH main store not long thereafter).

(And yes…finally I did get to sleep. The bad thing about really late nights – they lead to really late mornings. Thankfully, on Saturday, that’s not a bad thing at all.)

What I’m Wearing:

Top: Kim by Addams

Panties: Cheeky Panties by enertia

Socks: Eva by erratic

Kink(y) in Pink(y)

(Oh gosh…that title! It was late and I had title writer’s block…)

I don’t think it’s going to shock anyone that I LOVE shopping events. I love checking Seraphim before going to make a little shopping list, I love rubbing elbows with the crowd, I love trying on demos, and I love getting new clothes! Today’s shopping event was Kinky, and the dress…well…it’s not something you’re going to wear to church…

The dress is Gia by Asteria. Aside from being a sexy asymmetric minidress in its own right, it’s…well…let’s say drafty. You’ll see what I mean. The dress includes a HUD with numerous texture options for the attached panties. The stockings are applier-based from FnH; I’ve had these for EVER and they still look fantastic. They also come with a g-string and suspender belt version that is just sizzling with the right skirt or dress and comes with a HUD that offers black, white, pink, and nude color options.

(The shoes are by Essenz, but are, sadly, from February’s BishBox and aren’t available. They sure are cute though…)

And, as I am wont to do, I’m hanging at Cling with some of my besties at my favorite club on the grid. I really love the snowfall effect. (It looks much better in person, have a peek sometime!)

What I’m Wearing:

Dress: Gia by Asteria (Kinky Shopping Event)

Stockings: Say It Stockings by FnH

Shoes: Tokyo by Essenz (February 2017 BishBox)

Hair: Kare by TRUTH

Oh no…this again???

Forecast in Hell: Snow – Luxe Box November 2017

A month ago I raved about how I’ve never been disappointed by my monthly Luxe Box. I got up on my soap box and preached that it was always awesome, and always money well spent. I unboxed mine last night and…things changed.

Fair play, this is my personal opinion, and a lot of this might change if you live a different SL than I do. I imagine quite a few of us thought November’s box was the bee’s knees, and I’m really happy for you all! It just didn’t do it for me.

I want to start with the high notes though because there were a few bright spots.

My top and earrings are from Pretty Mess – while it’s a bit simple, I think the texturing is really lovely and it has a unique and alluring slit up either side. The earrings are very different and creative. I definitely will be wearing them. My hair is by Lamb, and I really love ponytails. The accompanying style HUD on the Lamb hair provides for a ponytail that hangs to either side or down the back at either shoulder length or down to mid-back. My only quibble is the hair makes my forehead look kind of gigantic, but adding these bangs from Truth addressed that fairly well. I could see this becoming a semi-regular hair for me.

And that’s it. I don’t want to point fingers or name names or get into details – if you want to chat that out with me in world, drop me an IM. Still, whether it was a lack of features, imagination, or just plain not being my style/fitting my needs, this Luxe Box didn’t deliver the way nearly every other Luxe Box has.

Will this drive me away from my monthly Luxe Box? Of course not! I’ll be right there on December 1 rejoining the group. No one succeeds 100% of the time, and I don’t mind riding along through a rough patch. I’d be willing to be December’s Luxe Box will be a real gem and this unfortunate misstep will be all but forgotten.

What I’m Wearing:

Top: Lily Split Tube by Pretty Mess (Luxe Box)

Jeans: DWL by Blueberry

Shoes: Kerria by #EMPIRE (Luxe Box)

Hair: Wait by Lamb (Luxe Box) and Bangs from AveryElena by Truth

My Workout Routine

In the category of ‘something-else-weird-about-my-SL’, I get a strange satisfaction about going to the gym or getting out the yoga mat at home. Of course, I know this isn’t going to improve my avi’s health or help her trim her tummy or anything along those lines. I suppose the feeling is not unlike the sense of accomplishment I get when going to the gym in my First Life, only without the spin class guy yelling at me.

Even though I probably wouldn’t wear a track jacket for yoga on the deck, I couldn’t resist putting this one on because it is cute with a capital AF. This is from Belzebubble at this month’s 4Mesh event, which ends December 1. It comes with a nearly infinite array of colors, with a HUD allowing you to change the jacket color, the trim, the sleeves, the metals – I love that! The shorts are an old standby for me, Sylvia by Blueberry. When I wear older clothes by my favorite designers like Blueberry, Vinyl, Addams, PiZaZZ, Kaithleen’s, Insanya, or a big laundry list of others, I see exactly how far they’ve come. Not that their older clothing is poor, far from it – I love these shorts! I’m just saying their newer releases are out-of-this-world amazing. I can’t wait to see the future in clothing in Second Life.

Annnnnnnd this is how nearly all of my First Life workout sessions end, so why not SL as well? Who doesn’t love a nice nap?
